Based on my first-year experience, advantages at Ryerson include: an abundance of resources for students (ex. career advice, homework help), a positive environment and helpful staff, and a lot of stores and restaurants around campus.

I definitely should've looked into the programs Ryerson offered. I missed out on the chance to get into Creative Industries because I didn't research it well enough.

What was your favourite university experience?

I made a few friends, all of whom are really great people. Hanging out in the SLC with friends was memorable.

What was your least favourite university experience?

I didn't have the best study habits and I procrastinated a lot, which affected my grades for sure. The second semester of my first year in Business Management was the worst. I had five courses and all of which required a lot of independent studying to understand the theories and math, and on top of that, I had a part-time job. My strategy to balance work and school life was to work only once or twice a week, and study on the days I didn't work.

What is the hardest part about your program and what were the steps that you took to overcome any difficulties?

If you were able to take electives, what was your favourite elective? If you were not able to take electives, what was your favourite course and why?

GMS200 and MHR523 were my favourites.

GMS was a smaller class and very interactive. I liked my professor and the business simulator we did throughout the course. The course content overall was interesting to me as it relates to management and understanding people.

MHR was also similar in terms of course content, but it involved more about the actual management of people (ex. training), employment laws, and employer to employee relations.
