What did you wish you knew before going to your university? What made you choose this institution over all others? What are advantages and disadvantages of your institution or campus? List any advice for incoming first-year students about your university.
I chose Ryerson University because it was the closest option available for me that had a good business program. The main advantage for me is the availability and not having to live on campus because I can commute. The disadvantage is that the commute is about an hour long. I suggest that if you can commute to school then take the opportunity as residence is expensive. However if you find that early wake up and extra hour important than residence is not too bad of an option.

The main mistake I made was slack off on work. The workload may seem not too bad and slack at first, but do not let that get to you. Always try to complete work before the deadline even a week or two for big projects. This allows time for edits and questions to ask professors. In addition, use the room booking available to all business students including some other programs as well. This is very helpful for students who can't seem to work at home like me. I get distracted often at home with games, however it's a different environment in that room you can book for an hour.
What was your favourite university experience?
My best experience at university was actually taking a forensic liberal course. This course was very interesting and laid back for those who want some suspense-like course.
What was your least favourite university experience?
The social life at university is very hard due to the fact that many people have friend groups already coming from high school. However, do not be discouraged to interact with other students in class. In fact, try to join clubs as those help a lot with friend groups.
What is the hardest part about your program and what were the steps that you took to overcome any difficulties?
If you do not know what your main major is could become very stressful. Originally I came into the university thinking I should do Human Resources for my major. But after taking the first year courses, I got very interested in Marketing as the course was very interesting. If you can, do not put your major until the deadline comes as changing majors requires decent paperwork and submission.
If you were able to take electives, what was your favourite elective? If you were not able to take electives, what was your favourite course and why?
Introduction to Forensics.
